Why Is My Water Heater Not Heating Up Despite Resetting the Button?

Your water heater may not reheat after a reset due to a failed heating element or thermostat, a tripped breaker, gas supply or ignition problems, or heavy sediment buildup. A stuck mixing valve or recirculation issue can also keep water lukewarm. Hearn repairs gas, electric, and tankless units.

  • Check the breaker or fuse.
  • For gas units, confirm the gas valve is on and the burner ignites.
  • Give the tank time to reheat after a reset.
  • Call if you see leaks, corrosion, or repeated trips.
